Last updated: [3-10-2026]. Fares and rates below were checked on this date and change often.

Most Andaman budgets from Indore don't break at the beach. They break at the ferry counter, at the dive shop, and on the return flight someone booked three weeks too late.

So here's the short answer first. For a 5-night, 6-day trip covering Port Blair, Havelock and Neil, the Andaman trip cost from Indore works out to roughly ₹37,000–₹51,000 per person on a tight budget, ₹55,000–₹80,000 for a comfortable mid-range trip, and ₹86,000 or more if you want beachfront resorts and scuba. Those are estimates built from published fares and rates, not a quote. Every number below says where it came from, so you can check it yourself before you pay anyone.

You'll get a line-by-line breakdown: flights from Indore (and Delhi, if that's where you're starting), inter-island ferries, hotels, water activities, entry tickets, and the small costs people forget. There's also a section on the mistakes that can add ₹5,000–₹10,000 to a trip without you noticing.

A few naming notes before we start, because tickets and signboards now use different names. Port Blair was officially renamed Sri Vijaya Puram in September 2024. Havelock is Swaraj Dweep, Neil is Shaheed Dweep, and Ross Island is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep (all renamed in December 2018). Most ferry sites still show both names. This article uses the older names because that's what most people search.

How to reach Andaman from Indore: Indore to Port Blair flight cost

There is no direct flight from Indore to Port Blair. Skyscanner's route page and Air India's own route page both list zero direct flights on this sector, so you'll connect at least once.

What that means in practice:

  • Journey time: Air India's route page puts the Indore–Port Blair trip at around 7 hours 10 minutes with a connection. Longer layovers can stretch it much further, so check total duration, not just the fare.

  • Lowest fares seen: Skyscanner listed about ₹9,788 as the lowest one-way fare it had seen and about ₹20,743 for a return. Air India's page shows an indicative economy fare of ₹16,253 one way. Air India Express showed fares from ₹20,932 one way for a February 2027 date. These are snapshots, and they move every day.

  • Our planning range: ₹20,000–₹25,000 return if you book early and travel outside peak weeks; ₹25,000–₹32,000 for typical dates; ₹35,000–₹45,000+ for Christmas–New Year or last-minute bookings. Confirm on the airline's site before you lock dates.

One thing that catches first-timers: Port Blair is a daytime airport. Arrivals land in the morning or early afternoon, and that matters for the ferry plan below.

Starting from Delhi instead?

Delhi has it easier. Air India lists one direct Delhi–Port Blair flight of about 3 hours 40 minutes, plus many connecting options, with an indicative economy fare of around ₹10,858 one way on its route page. Budget roughly ₹18,000–₹30,000 return from Delhi on normal dates, and treat that as an estimate.

If you're in Indore and Delhi fares look much cheaper on your dates, it can be worth pricing Indore → Delhi separately. Just leave a generous buffer between the two flights. A self-booked connection that misses won't be protected by the second airline.

Andaman ferry cost: Port Blair, Havelock and Neil

Here's the bit nobody budgets properly. Havelock and Neil have no airport and no road link from Port Blair, so every island hop is a boat. A standard Port Blair → Havelock → Neil → Port Blair loop is three ferry tickets per person, and on private ferries each one costs about as much as a decent dinner for two.

Private ferries

The main private operators on this route are Makruzz, Nautika, ITT Majestic and Green Ocean. They're air-conditioned, bookable online, and leave from Haddo Wharf in Port Blair.

Sources don't fully agree here. One ferry booking site lists economy seats from about ₹800 (ITT Majestic) to ₹1,350 (Nautika) on Port Blair–Havelock, while another puts the Makruzz range at ₹800–₹3,000 depending on class. Premium and "luxury" classes cost noticeably more. For budgeting, ₹1,200–₹2,500 per leg is a safe middle, which gives ₹3,600–₹7,500 for all three legs. Confirm on the operator's website for your exact date.

A practical tip: if you're doing only Havelock, the morning sailings make the most sense. You arrive with most of the day left, and several ferry sites note that seas tend to be calmer earlier.

Government ferries

The Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) runs government ferries from Phoenix Bay Jetty. They cost far less than private boats, are slower (roughly 2.5–3 hours to Havelock), and are mainly meant for islanders. Tourists can use them, but seats are limited.

How you book them is one place where sources disagree. Some ferry guides say there's no online booking and you queue at the DSS counter or a Common Service Centre; others say a DSS e-ticketing portal opens about 15 days ahead and sells out quickly. Either way, don't build a honeymoon around getting a government ferry seat. Use it as a backup, not a plan.

Hotel cost in Andaman: where most of the money goes

Flights decide whether you can go. Hotels decide how much the trip actually costs.

Published ranges vary a lot, so here are two independent reference points rather than one made-up number:

  • A large Indian tour operator's cost guide puts budget stays at about ₹800–₹3,000 a night, mid-range hotels and beach cottages at ₹3,500–₹7,000, and luxury resorts at ₹8,000–₹30,000.

  • A hotel price comparison site showed Havelock averages of roughly ₹3,717 a night for 2-star, ₹7,844 for 3-star and ₹15,749 for 4-star hotels at the time we checked.

Havelock is usually the priciest of the three islands for the same comfort level. Port Blair has the widest choice at the lower end. Neil is smaller and quieter, with fewer rooms overall, so it fills up first in peak season.

If you're a family of four sharing one room or a family suite, your per-person hotel cost drops sharply. Solo travellers pay the full room rate, which is why solo Andaman trips often cost more per head than couple trips.

What I'd do on a mid budget: keep Port Blair simple (you're mostly out sightseeing), spend on Havelock, and keep Neil modest. Nobody remembers their Port Blair hotel.

Andaman water activities price: scuba, sea walk and snorkelling

This is where a ₹50,000 trip becomes a ₹65,000 trip before you notice. Water activity rates are set by operators, change by season, and are usually paid on the spot. Treat every number below as indicative and confirm with the operator.

A few things worth knowing before you hand over cash:

  • The Elephant Beach boat fare only gets you there and back. The sea walk, snorkelling or glass-bottom ride at the beach are paid separately. It's an easy thing to miss when you compare quotes.

  • Sea walking has a minimum age (one operator guide says children below seven aren't allowed) and operators typically ask about medical conditions like heart problems, asthma or high BP. Ask before you book, not at the platform.

  • Don't schedule scuba for your last day. Divers are commonly advised to leave a gap before flying. Do it on your first or second day in Havelock.

Three activity budgets

  • Light (₹1,500–₹2,500): Elephant Beach boat plus one snorkelling session.

  • Balanced (₹5,000–₹6,500): add a sea walk at North Bay or Elephant Beach.

  • Full (₹10,000–₹13,000): add a try-scuba dive in Havelock.

My take: if you can swim even a little and you want one splurge, pick scuba over the sea walk. If someone in your group is nervous about water, the sea walk or glass-bottom boat is the kinder choice.

Show tickets can be booked online on the official portal. The show is open-air, so it can be cancelled at short notice in bad weather. Book a day or two ahead in peak season.

Ross Island (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep) has a separate entry fee, commonly listed as ₹50 for adults and ₹25 for children, plus a boat fare from Port Blair that travel guides put at roughly ₹300–₹500 round trip, often combined with North Bay. The Incredible India site notes that boats to Ross run every day except Wednesday. Confirm both the fee and the day before you go.

Honeymoon couple from Indore

Double the mid-range or premium column and you're close: roughly ₹1.1–₹1.6 lakh for a comfortable couple trip, and ₹1.8 lakh upwards if you want a beachfront room in Havelock and scuba for both. Couples get the full benefit of twin sharing, so the hotel line is efficient. Where honeymooners overspend is usually the resort upgrade on the last night and a candlelight dinner add-on. Both are lovely. Both are optional. [INTERNAL LINK: Andaman honeymoon package page]

Family of four (2 adults, 2 kids)

Plan around ₹1.9–₹2.7 lakh for the family on a mid-range plan. Flights and ferries are charged per seat, so they don't shrink much with kids. Hotels and shows do help: the Cellular Jail show charges ₹150 for children aged 5–11, and a family room keeps the stay cost down. Check each activity's age rule before promising the kids a sea walk.

First-timer on a tight budget

Stay at the bottom of the budget column, book flights at least 6–8 weeks ahead, skip Neil if money is tight, and do snorkelling instead of scuba. You can realistically stay near ₹38,000–₹45,000 per person. Going lower usually means gambling on government ferries, and on a short trip that gamble isn't worth it.

Best time to visit Andaman (and how it changes the cost)

The broad agreement across sources is that October to May is the visiting season and June to September is monsoon. During the monsoon, travel guides note heavy rain, rough seas, restricted water activities and possible ferry disruption. Some sources narrow the best window to November–mid-May. Nobody can promise you calm water on a particular date, so treat any season advice as odds, not a guarantee.

Period

What to expect

Effect on cost

October–November

Monsoon tailing off, some showers, fewer crowds

Hotels often cheaper; good value window

December–February

Peak season, pleasant weather, busiest beaches

Highest flight and hotel prices; book early

March–May

Warmer, generally calm seas, good for diving

Prices ease after peak, especially later in the season

June–September

Monsoon, rough seas, activities may be shut

Cheapest, but you may lose activity days

If you're reading this in October or November and thinking about a December honeymoon: book flights and Havelock hotels now. Christmas to New Year is when Indore fares climb fastest.

7 mistakes that can add ₹10,000 to an Andaman trip

  1. Booking a ferry on the same day as your flight. If the flight is late, you lose the ferry fare and often a hotel night. Plan your first night in Port Blair.

  2. Booking your Havelock hotel before your ferry. Hotels can be moved; peak-season ferry seats often can't. Lock ferries the moment your dates are fixed.

  3. Assuming the Elephant Beach boat includes activities. It doesn't. Carry cash or UPI-ready balance for the add-ons.

  4. Scuba on departure day. Don't. Do it early in your Havelock stay.

  5. Comparing package prices that hide flights. Many Andaman packages quote land-only prices from Port Blair. From Indore, the flight can be bigger than the package. Always ask "with or without flights?"

  6. Leaving the light & sound show to the last minute. Peak-season evening shows sell out; book on the official portal a day or two ahead.

  7. Forgetting ID. Indian citizens don't need a permit for the main tourist islands, but you'll need a government photo ID for flights, ferries and some counters. Tribal reserves and certain restricted areas need special permission, and you shouldn't try to visit them.

A simple 5N/6D Andaman itinerary that matches this budget

  • Day 1: Fly Indore → Port Blair. Afternoon at the Cellular Jail, evening sound & light show.

  • Day 2: Ross Island and North Bay by boat. North Bay is where the sea walk and glass-bottom boat usually happen.

  • Day 3: Morning ferry to Havelock. Evening at Radhanagar Beach.

  • Day 4: Elephant Beach by boat in the morning; scuba or snorkelling today if you're diving.

  • Day 5: Ferry to Neil. Slow day, cycle or scooter around the island.

  • Day 6: Ferry Neil → Port Blair, fly home. Take the earliest sailing you can and check it reaches well before your flight.

This is a flexible itinerary, not a fixed plan. Ferry timings and operating days can change with the season, so confirm the details before travelling. If you're planning your trip, explore our Andaman tour packages to find an option that suits your travel plans.

Andaman trip checklist before you pay anyone

  • Flight fare compared on the airline's site, total journey time checked

  • First night booked in Port Blair (no same-day ferry)

  • All three ferry legs booked and timings matched to hotel check-ins

  • Package quotes compared on the same basis: with or without flights, which hotels, which ferry class

  • Activities chosen and age/medical rules checked

  • Light & sound show booked on the official portal

  • Photo ID for every traveller, kids included

  • Some cash in hand, in case card or UPI payments fail at smaller counters

So, what's the real Andaman trip cost from Indore?

For most people it lands between ₹55,000 and ₹80,000 per person for a comfortable 5-night trip, with around ₹37,000 as a realistic floor and no real ceiling at the top. The flight and the hotel decide most of it. Ferries and activities decide whether you stay on budget.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an Andaman trip cost from Indore per person?
For 5 nights covering Port Blair, Havelock and Neil, estimate ₹38,000–₹50,000 per person on a budget, ₹55,000–₹75,000 mid-range, and ₹90,000 or more with premium resorts and scuba. Return flights from Indore are the largest single cost, usually ₹20,000–₹45,000 depending on dates. These are estimates; confirm flight and hotel prices for your exact dates.
Is there a direct flight from Indore to Port Blair?
No. Airline and fare-comparison sites list no direct flights on the Indore–Port Blair route, so you'll connect at least once. Air India's route page shows a journey of about 7 hours 10 minutes with a connection. Delhi travellers have more options, including a direct Air India flight of roughly 3 hours 40 minutes. Schedules change, so check before booking.
How much is the ferry from Port Blair to Havelock?
Private ferries on Port Blair–Havelock generally cost about ₹1,200–₹2,500 one way, depending on operator and class, and take roughly 90 minutes to 2.5 hours. Some economy seats are listed lower. Government ferries from Phoenix Bay Jetty are much cheaper but have limited seats. Budget around ₹3,600–₹7,500 per person for a three-leg island loop.
What is the Andaman trip cost for a couple on honeymoon?
A comfortable 5-night honeymoon from Indore usually costs about ₹1.1–₹1.5 lakh for two, including flights, private ferries, mid-range hotels and a couple of water activities. A beachfront room in Havelock and scuba for both can push it past ₹1.8 lakh. Booking flights early does more for the budget than any hotel discount.
Is scuba diving in Havelock worth the cost?
For most first-timers, yes, if it's the one splurge. Beginner try-dives in Havelock are commonly priced around ₹4,500–₹6,500, and many centres run guided beginner dives with no certification needed (ask the centre about swimming requirements). Schedule it early in your stay, never on the day you fly out, and confirm what the price includes
Do Indians need a permit to visit Andaman?
No permit is needed for Indian citizens visiting the main tourist islands like Port Blair, Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) and Neil (Shaheed Dweep). Carry a government photo ID such as Aadhaar or a driving licence for flights and ferries. Tribal reserves and some restricted areas are off-limits without special permission and shouldn't be on a tourist plan.
What is the cheapest time to visit Andaman?
The monsoon months, roughly June to September, are cheapest, but rough seas can shut water activities and disrupt ferries. For better value without losing activity days, look at October–November or the later part of March–May. December to February is peak season, with the highest flight and hotel prices from Indore.
How many days are enough for Andaman?
Five nights is a comfortable minimum for Port Blair, Havelock and Neil without rushing. With four nights, drop Neil and keep Port Blair and Havelock. Anything shorter means most of your trip is spent on flights and ferries, which costs almost as much for far less beach time.
