Planning New Year 2027? The 8 best New Year group trips from Indore and Bhopal — Manali snow, Jaisalmer desert camps, Udaipur, Goa, Kashmir and Kerala — with dates, prices and booking tips.
Quick answer: The best New Year trips from Indore and Bhopal for 2027 are Manali–Kasol for snow, Jaisalmer for a desert camp party, Udaipur for a short lake-city break, Goa for beaches and Kashmir for a white New Year. New Year's Eve 2026 falls on a Thursday and 1 January 2027 on a Friday, so you get a natural long weekend from 31 December to 3 January. Book by the first week of December, because group batches for this week fill up first.
Every year, the same thing happens. In October, your friends say "this time we will definitely go somewhere for New Year". By mid-December, half of them have work, one has a wedding, and the plan dies in the group chat. Then 31 December arrives and you are at home, watching everyone else's stories.
This guide is for breaking that cycle. We have run New Year group trips from Central India for eight years, and here is everything you need to plan yours: the dates, the best destinations, what each trip costs, and how to book before prices jump.
New Year 2027 dates: how to plan your leave
The calendar is kind this year. Christmas, 25 December 2026, is a Friday, and New Year's Day, 1 January 2027, is also a Friday. That gives you two long weekends back to back.
Break | Dates | Leave needed | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
Christmas long weekend | 25–27 December 2026 | None (Friday holiday) | Udaipur, Pachmarhi, short trips |
New Year long weekend | 31 December 2026 – 3 January 2027 | 1 day (Thursday 31st) | Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Goa |
Christmas to New Year | 25 December – 3 January | 4 working days | Manali, Kashmir, Kerala, Rajasthan circuit |
If you can take four days off between Christmas and New Year, you can do a full mountain trip and still be back before work restarts on Monday, 4 January.

1. Manali, Kasol and Lahaul: the snow New Year
If you have always wanted to count down to midnight with snow around you, this is the trip. Manali is the most booked New Year destination from Central India, and for good reason. Solang Valley usually has snow by late December, the Atal Tunnel road takes you into the white Lahaul valley, and Old Manali's cafés stay busy till late.
Our Himachal New Year Special adds Kasol for two quiet riverside days before the big night. The countdown happens around a bonfire with music, dinner and a group that has spent five days together. For the full plan, read our Manali trip from Indore guide and the Manali travel guide.
2. Jaisalmer and Jodhpur: a New Year under desert stars
There is something special about a New Year's Eve in the Thar desert. The day ends with a camel or jeep safari at the Sam dunes, followed by a Rajasthani folk performance, dinner, a bonfire and a sky so full of stars that nobody looks at their phone at midnight.
The trip starts in Jodhpur, the blue city, with Mehrangarh Fort and the old-city lanes, then moves to the golden fort of Jaisalmer. December days are around 22 to 25°C and pleasant for sightseeing, while desert nights get cold, so pack a warm jacket. Read Jodhpur: the blue city before you go.
3. Udaipur: the short and sweet New Year
Not everyone can take four days off. The Udaipur Year End Road Trip is a 2 night, 3 day trip that fits into the New Year long weekend. You get sunset at Lake Pichola, a boat ride, the City Palace and rooftop cafés, and you are back home by 3 January. It is also one of our most budget-friendly options at ₹5,999. See our Udaipur travel guide.
4. Rajasthan backpacking: three cities in five days
If you want more than one city, the Rajasthan New Year Backpacking Expedition covers Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer in a single road trip. It is our best pick for groups who want variety: lakes, forts, a blue city and a desert night, all in one week. Our Rajasthan group trip itinerary explains the route day by day.
5. Kashmir: a white New Year
For a proper winter-wonderland New Year, Kashmir is hard to beat. Gulmarg is usually snow-covered by the end of December, Pahalgam and Sonmarg are quiet and beautiful, and a shikara on Dal Lake in winter is an experience of its own. It is colder than Manali, so thermals are essential. Read Kashmir for first-time visitors before booking.
6. Kerala: for those who want warmth
Not a fan of the cold? Kerala in late December has pleasant weather, full backwaters after the monsoon and great beaches at Varkala for the countdown. Our NY and Xmas Kerala edition covers Munnar's tea hills, a houseboat in Alleppey and the cliffs of Varkala. Plan it with our Kerala trip from Indore guide.
7. Goa: the classic beach New Year
Goa needs no introduction. North Goa is where the big New Year parties are; South Goa is calmer and quieter. If you are going from Indore or Bhopal, our Goa trip from Indore guide compares road, train and flight options and explains how to keep the trip within budget during peak week.
8. Pachmarhi: the no-leave New Year
If you cannot take any leave at all, Pachmarhi works as a 2-day escape over the weekend. Cool winter mornings, waterfalls and the Dhoopgarh sunset make it the easiest New Year getaway from Bhopal. See our Pachmarhi group trip story.
How much does a New Year trip cost from Indore?
A New Year group trip from Indore or Bhopal costs about ₹6,000 to ₹17,000 per person for the trip itself, depending on the destination and duration. Short Rajasthan trips are at the lower end, and Kashmir and Kerala are at the higher end. Add train or flight tickets to the starting point if they are not included, plus around ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 for personal spends and activities like skiing or a desert safari upgrade.
New Year week is the most expensive week of the year for hotels in Manali, Goa and Udaipur. Booking a group trip helps because the operator has already locked the stays at group rates.
When should you book a New Year trip?
Book by the first week of December. In our experience, New Year batches fill up two to four weeks before departure, and train tickets from Indore and Bhopal to Delhi sell out even earlier. If you are planning with friends, block your seats with a 50% advance first and figure out the rest later.
New Year trip checklist
Book leave early, especially for 31 December and the days after Christmas.
Pack for the coldest night. Manali, Kashmir and desert nights can drop near or below zero.
Carry ID and keep a digital copy; hotels and camps ask for it.
Keep some cash for small shops, cafés and tips.
Share your itinerary and Trip Captain's number with family.
Plan the return. Roads and trains on 1 and 2 January are crowded, so book the return before you leave.
Is a New Year group trip safe for girls?
Yes. New Year is one of the busiest and most crowded times to travel, which is exactly why a group trip is the safer choice. On TravelTech trips, girls share rooms only with girls, a Trip Captain stays with the group during the celebrations, and smoking and alcohol are not allowed during travel. Read our full guide on solo trips for girls in India.
